Some artists explain the world. David Lynch made the world feel larger, stranger, and more honest by refusing to explain it at all.

He died in January 2025, yet his presence has not diminished. If anything, the silence he left behind has made the frequency of his work clearer. What he gave us was never a set of answers. It was permission — permission to sit with the unresolved, to feel the weight of things that cannot be named, and to recognize that the ordinary surface of life is often the thinnest of membranes.
